Sunrise Sharks Fall Swim

Hello 2021 Fall Sharks Program Families,

We hope that all is well for everyone and you are looking forward to the upcoming Labor Day Holiday weekend.  We had a few program updates to share with families so sending out this mass email to everybody.

Air Quality/Practice Cancellations:
As everyone is already aware especially after this past weekend our region is experiencing bad air quality issues.  The District’s pools were closed this past weekend due to the high air quality numbers.  We have set up a webpage on our District website where we will post updates to pool/facility closures due to bad weather conditions/air quality concerns.  Over the next few weeks weather permitting, please check sunriseparks.com/pool-status before heading to the Antelope Pool for practice.  We will be doing our best to update this webpage between 3:00-4:00PM each weekday as bad air quality concerns remain.

Sharks Fall Program Practice Times:
As mentioned on the pool deck during the first night of practice we were waiting to hear back from Antelope HS on the status of their water polo teams.  They have recently contacted us and will not be offering teams this Fall season.  West Park HS is still running their practice sessions until 6:15PM, so we are looking to start a little earlier beginning Tuesday, August 31st.  Listed below are the new Sharks Fall Program practice times while the high school water polo season continues….

  • 11 & Up age groups will begin at 6:30PM and after warm down, cleaning up the pool area, and assisting with lane lines and pool covers they will be done by 8:00PM.
  • 10 & Un age groups will begin at 6:45PM and after warm down and cleaning up their areas they will be done by 7:45PM.

Practice Equipment:
There is limited swim equipment currently stored at the Antelope Pool and we will be bringing a few more kickboards and hopefully, the Sharks swim fins from Rusch Pool over this week.  Swimmers are encouraged, but not required to bring their own swim equipment (swim cap, goggles, kickboard, fins, and pull buoy in a swim bag) on a daily basis.  If there are any questions, please ask Coach Travis for more information on swimmer equipment before or after practice sessions.

Also, there still might be some additional practice time changes and/or cancellations depending upon the West Park HS home water polo games which we should have by the end of this week.  Once again, thank you for your support and participation in the Sharks Fall Program and we will send out more information soon.   Have a good/safe Holiday Weekend.
